For me the most important thing in a painting is the colour. Often that little bit of extra purple or turquoise or what ever is needed makes the whole art work. It is like upgrading your painting from average to more. The final touch is so important. Naturally with out a good composition or knowledge of forms it is not going to work either. But it is the colour what makes me drive.
